Hepatitis C vaccine soon

European scientists have achieved a remarkable success , their new vaccine for Hepatitis C has successfully tested in animals. There was no vaccine for C type before . Hepatitis C is very deadly , contagious and debilitating virus that can cause liver failure and cancer.

It is spread through contaminated blood and unsafe sex and kills some 0.35 million people worldwide each year, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

About 170 million people around the globe are estimated to be affected with chronic disease caused by the virus. At least 10 million of them are illegal drug users who have got HCV through shared needles etc.

The pace of its spread is very fast and it is expected to surpass AIDS in the next century," the researchers warned.

Unlike hepatitis A or B, most people infected with HCV cannot fight the virus on their own because, when under attack by the immune system, it morphs into stronger variants .
